How to Choose Your First Carry Pistol
Buying a first carry gun in Fort Worth? The size-vs-capacity choice is where most people get stuck. Here’s the honest trade-off:
- Bigger (full-size/compact): more capacity, less recoil, and easier to shoot accurately — exactly what a new shooter benefits from. The cost: harder to conceal and heavier to carry.
- Smaller (subcompact/micro): easier to hide and more comfortable, so it stays on you. The cost: fewer rounds and a small grip that’s actually harder to shoot well.
- The middle: compacts often give new carriers the best mix of shootable and concealable.
The best gun is the one you’ll carry and can control. Don’t buy the wrong one twice — get hands on a few before you decide.
